Registration is underway for fall
classes at the Jewish
Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.
For young children, the JCC
offers age-appropriate sports in
addition to games, arts, crafts,
music, science and parent/child
classes.
Boys and girls in elementary
school can take a variety of
sports classes in addition to act-
ing, crafts and a book club.
Youth in grades five-12 can
enroll in sports classes and
leagues. New classes for girls
include "Girls on the Run,"
which helps girls train to race
and increase their self-esteem,
and "All About You" for girls in
grades six-10 who want to learn
about self-maintenance.
Adult classes include high-
and low-impact aerobics, body
conditioning, weights,
mind/body exercise and more.
There are also enrichment class-
es for adults. Senior adults can
find health and fitness classes
geared to their abilities as well
as movies, concerts, parties, lec-
tures and day trips.
The aquatics program offers
open swimming, lessons and
competitive swimming for
infants through older adults.
The JCC also has health, fit-
ness and arts and crafts pro-
grams for people with special
needs. A support group is avail-
able for individuals with multi-
ple sclerosis. Gamblers
Anonymous also offers a sup-
port group at the JCC.
The JCC travel department
offers day trips, short excursions
and extended-stay journeys and
cruises.
Classes are open to the pub-
lic. Registration can be done in
person at either JCC location.
