ike the marketplaces of old, the JCC
Summer Culture Shuk held in West
Bloomfield on the afternoon of Aug. 13
teemed with families.
More than 1,000 people gathered on the
.
grounds of the Jewish Community Center's Kahn
Building, which had been transformed into a
modern marketplace. They came to eat, play and
buy crafts, and especially to shmooze with new
and old friends.
Under striped tents, children made bracelets
and mezuzot as artists sold their wares. Outside
loomed a large inflatable obstacle course, next to
ponies for riding. A nearby stage offered music by
the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars as well as
