times she performed with her two
daughters, Cindy, a clarinetist, and
Kim, a flutist. Dr. Richard Hertz,
the late rabbi of Temple Beth El,
dubbed them the Rosner Trio. The
family performed locally at weddings
and bar mitzvahs. With Kim now
moved back to the area, the trio may
perform again, Rosner says.
She also recalls collaborating with
Beth El's drama teacher for Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat. The cast included
Rosner's daughters and her nephew,
Tom Stone. "We were asked by the
rabbi to perform on the bima on
Friday night," Rosner says. "It was
wonderful."
Changes she has witnessed at
Beth El include the addition of a
cantor, a return to tradition and
more Hebrew in the services. .
Temple Beth El Rabbi Daniel
Syme calls Rosner "the kindest,
sweetest woman I have ever met.
"She works quietly and without
fanfare," he says. "Everything she
does is better, due to her involve-
ment."
Beyond her temple work, Rosner
gives.private piano lessons and is a
member of both the Birmingham
Musicale and the Little Musicale of
Birmingham-Bloomfield. A frequent
performer as a soloist and with
chamber groups, she has appeared
on Booth Cable Television, serving
Birmingham and theBloomfield
area.
Rosner earned a bachelor of
music degree in piano performance
from Wayne State. While there, she
was president of Mu Phi Epsilon,
the international professional music
fraternity. She's now scholarship
chair for Mu Phi Epsilon.
Rosner created a scholarship, in
memory of her parents, that is open
to piano, flute or clarinet students at
Wayne State, Michigan State or
Oakland universities. Her mother,
Karlene, was a pianist at the Royal
Academy of Music in London,
England.
Marion Freedman of West
Bloomfield, Beth El's immediate past
president, has known Rosner
through 24 years of membership at
the 1,600-family congregation.
Rosner "is a lovely woman both
inside and out," Freedman says.
"She is very talented. The temple is
very fortunate to have her and her
services all these years.
"She is a treasured presence at the
congregation." ❑

Bill Bullard

For Oakland County Drain Commissioner, only

Republican Senator Bill Bullard has the leadership
and experience we need to get the job done.
In the State Senate, Bullard sponsored SB 781, a
bill to regionalize the Detroit Water and Sewer
Department and end Detroit's profiteering off
Oakland residents' high rates.
That's why the leaders we trust, trust Bill Bullard.
