Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Evan Ted Subar of Lutz, Fla.,
became a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
June 24, at Congregation Kol Ami
in Tampa, Fla.
Evan will be an eighth-grade stu-
dent at Walker Middle School,
where he has been on the principal's
honor roll each quarter. Invited to
participate in the Duke University
Talent Identification program, Evan
also received academic excellence
awards in mathematics and Spanish.
He was awarded the Jay Fink
Memorial Scholarship to use at
Berger Hebrew High School.
Interested in keyboarding and
foreign languages, Evan also enjoys
all sports, especially football and
basketball. For his mitzvah project,
Evan is donating plants to residents
at two nursing homes in the Tampa
area.
Evan is the son of Neal and Carol
Subar and brother of Sara.
Attending his bar mitzvah were his
bubbie and zayde Phyllis and
Seymour Subar of West Bloomfield,
grandparents Edith and Irving
Zweir of Eldersburg, Md., and other
family and friends from Farmington
Hills, Southfield, Oak Park and
Birmingham, as well as Pittsburgh,
Dallas and Baltimore.
