raised in Los Angeles, Max Levinson
began studying piano at age 5. He
graduated Harvard University with a
degree in English literature and later
completed graduate studies at the
New England Conservatory of Music,
where he was awarded the Gunther
Schuller medal, annually given to the
school's top graduate.
Since then, he has taken the classi-
cal music world by storm. He is the
first American to win first.prize at the
Guardian Dublin
International Piano
Competition, and
in March 1999 was
awarded the presti-
gious Avery Fisher
Award Grant.

Detroit Symphony
