Zaks will oversee the AZA (boys) pro- gram and help plan regional events. He is a graduate Jason Zaks of Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills, North Farmington High School, and Michigan State University's James Madison College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in social relations. At MSU, Zaks was president of the Hillel Foundation Student Board and a member of the MSU Student Judicial Appeals Board. In high school, he was president of Kishon AZA and regional membership vice- president. For the past two years, Zaks worked part-time with BBYO as pro- gram supervisor and Teen Connection coordinator while substitute teaching in metropolitan Detroit. Students Sought For Israel Program Applications are being accepted for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's Project Discovery program. The program provides a semester of study and travel in Israel for high school students in 10th-12th grades. The winter 2001 semester will be centered at the American Israeli High School in Pardess Hanna, a small town five miles from the Mediterranean. It is located between Tel Aviv and Haifa. Project Discovery students can earn full high school credit, learn basic Hebrew and interact with peers from all over the world. The program is secular, with kosher and Shabbat- observant facilities. Horseback riding, theater, music and sports are offered, as well as supervised field trips throughout Israel. Applicants must have at least a B- average.
