mer Detroiter of Charlotte, N.C.,
died June 30. He was awarded the •
Bronze Star for bravery while serving
in the United States Army at
Normandy during World War II. He
was a member of Temple Israel and
loved reading and baseball.
Mr. Newman is survived by his
son, Yale D. Newman; wife, Susan
Mays Newman; daughter Melanie
N. Suit; granddaughters, Michelle
Newman, Elizabeth Suit, both of
Charlotte; brothers, Robert Newman
of West Palm Beach, Fla., Lloyd
Newman of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He was the husband of the late
Jacqueline Newman; grandfather of
the late Christopher Newman.
