THE ONE tk- ONLY ' s%'‘

(Raskin) Sazer. Ben and Jane
(Friedling) Goldman were in town
from Virginia, and Mel and Bettie
Rechtman made the trip from
Georgia. Other now out-of-staters
included Bernie and Grace Colton
from St. Louis, and Gerson and Elaine
Lacoff, who spend seasonal time in
Las Vegas, but returned to Detroit to
attend the reunion.
"Detroit area attendees included
Herb and Phyllis (Hanelman)
Silverman, Saul and Ethel (Charfos)
Kroopnick, Arnold and Pauline
(Nessel) Sabaroff, Ann (Tencor) Begel
and Seymour Okun. Two of our gang,
Sol Begel and Fay (Garlock) Okun,
are deceased, and four, Californians
Gertrude Pomish and Saul and Millie
Rolnitsky, as well as Leo Woontner
from Indiana, were incapacitated with
illnesses.
"The festivities opened with dinner,
a photo swap and lots of chatter. The
dinner was hosted by Seymour Okun
and his family. The next day's activi-
ties included Minnie Schiffman,
docent with the Detroit Historical
Museum Society, who led a dialogue
on the migration of Detroit Jews from
inner city to the northwest suburbs.
Conversation continued throughout
the afternoon about our common past
experiences, followed by dinner at Big
Daddy's in West Bloomfield.
"Two days of talk was followed by a
pleasant fatigue and promises to 'Do it
again, but not 59 years later.' Not
much chance of that!"
