Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Philip Louis Rolnitzky will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, July 1,
at Congregation
B'nai Moshe. Philip
is the son of Marsha
and Paul Margolis
and Hope and Jack
Rolnitzky. He is the
big brother of
Justin and Ryan
Rolnitzky and
Samantha Margolis.
Philip's proud grandmothers are
Irene Lusky and Mary Rolnitzky.
He is the grandson of the late
Benjamin Lusky and the late
Pinchus Rolnitzky. He is also the
stepgrandson of Sharon and Meyer
Margolis and Donald Ledger.
Philip is an eighth-grade honor
student at Walled Lake Middle
School. He enjoys computers,
music, fishing, golf, playing the
trumpet and collecting sports cards.
For his mitzvah project, Philip
worked on two major charitable
events for ORT. He is also planning
to collect 100 children's books dur-
ing his bar mitzvah weekend to be
donated to Orchards Children's
Services.

Rachel Ilana Sherman became a
bat mitzvah on May 27 at
Congregation Beth Shalom. She is
the daughter of Gail and Mark
Sherman and the sister of Daniel.
Sharing in this special occasion were
grandparents Pearl Foreman and
Jean and Harry Sherman.
Rachel is an honor student at

Norup Middle
School in Oak Park.
She enjoys playing
the violin, swim-
ming and dancing.
Rachel likes work-
ing with children
and has worked in a
day camp for the
past three summers. She is also a
member of the Kadima and
Woodstrivers youth groups.

Alana Rachel Freedland was called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, May 20,
at Congregation
Kol Ami in Tampa,
Fla. Alana is the
daughter of Barbara
and Curtis
Freedland and sis-
ter to Jared. Proud
grandparents are
Mary Freedland of
West Bloomfield and Evelyn and
Jack Goren of Southfield. She is also
the granddaughter of the late Jack
Freedland.
A seventh-grade honor student at
the Hillel School of Tampa, Alana
was invited to participate in the
Duke University talent identifica-
tion program. Active in dance,
Alana is a member of the Universal
Movement Performing Arts
Company.
Special guests included family
and friends from Michigan and
New York.
