onship at Ohio State University, win-
ning the rings event and finishing sec-
ond in all-around.
Vercammen attends Birmingham
Covington School in Bloomfield Hills
and is the son of Lynn Medow and
David Vercammen.

will play in the
USSSA Little
League World
Series for children
ages 10 and under
in Olive Branch,
Miss.
His team, the
Troy Mustangs,
Jordan Gorosh
will be one of 32
teams in the com-
petition. The team last week was 20-0
in the North Oakland Baseball
Federation.
Gorosh is 10 and a fifth-grader at
Ealy Elementary School. He primarily
pitches for the Mustangs, but also
plays first and third base, outfield and
bats cleanup.
His parents are Sandy and Mark
Gorosh.

Newman Wins
Golf Tourney

BB Golf Classic
At Edgewood

Aaron Newman of Farmington Hills
won the 12-13-year-old boys division
of the annual Farmington Optithist
Club Junior Golf Tournament with a
score of 79.
The tournament was held at Glen
Oaks Golf Course in Farmington
Hills on June 16. Newman won by
six strokes and advances to the state
finals of the national Optimist Club
junior golf program.
Newman recently graduated from
O.E. Dunckel Middle School and
will attend North Farmington High
School this fall.

Metropolitan Detroit B'nai B'rith will
hold its 18th annual golf classic at
Edgewood Country Club in Union
Lake on Monday, July 10.
Money raised frorri the event bene-
fits B'nai B'rith's youth-serving agen-
cies.
Chairmen of the event are Howard
Ishbia, Michael Fishman and Ron
Bittker. Honorary chairmen are Irving
Siegel, Gary Cochran, Jerry Olson
and Ralph Woronoff.

Schulman Qualifies
For Sr, Olympics

Sid Schulman of Oak Park won five medals in six
swimming events at the Michigan Senior Olympics
in Battle Creek, June 16-17.
Schulman competed in backstroke and freestyle in
the 65-69 age group, and qualified for the National
Senior Olympics for the third time in six years. The
nationals will be held in Baton Rouge, La., in July 2001.
