Forbes Owner
Addresses Forum

Charles Forbes, owner of Forbes
Management, the downtown Detroit
real estate and entertainment develop-
ment company, will be the speaker at
the next Federation Forum sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit. The talk is noon
Thursday, July 13, at the Century
Club, adjacent to the Gem Theatre, in
Detroit.
In 1997, Forbes arranged the mov-
ing five blocks from Woodward of the
historic Gem Theatre and Century
Club and Elwood restaurant in
Detroit, saving them from being
demolished to make way for Comerica
Park's construction. The Guinness Book
of World Records noted that the theater
is the heaviest building moved on
wheels.
The luncheon program, chaired by
Leo Maxbauer, is one in a series pre-
sented by Federation's Community
Outreach and Education Department.
The series seeks to inform and involve
people in Jewish community issues and
activities.
Advance reservations are required by
Friday, July 7. There is a charge of $25
for the dairy lunch, with a kosher meal
provided on request with payment.
For information, call Kara Weiner,
(248) 203-1499.

Tay-Sachs Alert

If someone in your family was tested for the Tay-Sachs gene and
the test was screened by Corning Clinical Laboratories, MetPath,
MetWest or Quest Diagnostics between 1992 and 1998, please
contact us to determine whether you need to schedule a free retest
to confirm your results. For women and couples who are pregnant
or plan to become pregnant, we urge you to contact us immediately.

We expect that retesting will validate "non-carrier" status for
approximately 99% of individuals being recommended for retesting.

For information or to speak to one of our genetic counselors or
physicians, please call toll-free 1-877-806-8175 at any time.
