Na'amat Hosts George Cantor Detroit News columnist George Cantor will be the keynote speaker at the Na'amat USA, Greater Detroit Council's spiri- tual adoption donor luncheon noon Thursday, July 13, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. The event repre- sents the culmination George Cantor of the year's efforts on behalf of the programs of Niamat Israel. The spiritual adoption program provides day care in centers for 25,000 children. The council helps maintains homes for children at risk and provides scholar- ships for teenagers as well as technical and vocational high schools. On a broader basis, the council pro- vides community centers and counseling and legal aid and also provides shelters to victims of domestic violence. Adult training programs are provided in com- munity centers as well. Council president is Evelyn Noveck. Belle Schwartz is vice president of funds. Chairman of the day is Florence Citarel and Frieda Faigin is co-chair. Louis Citarel will provide a musical interlude. A minimum contribution is required in addition to the luncheon charge. The piece, by Kalamazoo artist Donavan Kindle, is inscribed with the names of 949 inch- viduals, families and organizations that donated $1,000 or more to Sinai Hospital during its lifetime. The Sinai Heritage Wall will be dedicated at a ceremony 4 p.m. Thursday, June 29. Donors whose names appear on the wall or their sur- viving family members have been invited. A second installation that originally hung at Sinai Hospital, with photographs of the Sinai Hospital facilities named for major donors, will be re-dedicated at the same time.
