Bar/Bat Mitzvah

A student at Abbott Middle School
in West Bloomfield, Mason enjoys
snowboarding, skate boarding, jet ski-
ing, cars, minibikes, computers and
attending Camp Tamarack. As part of
his mitzvah projects, he volunteered at
the Fleischman Residence and babysat
at Temple Israel during services.

Joshua Michael Liebman will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, June 24, at
Congregation B'nai
Moshe. He is the son
of Dr. Sammi Siegel
and Mindy and
Jonathan Liebman.
Josh is the grandson
of Rita Siegel of
Miami and Ceil and
Jerry Liebman of
Southfield. He is also the grandson of
the late Harold Siegel. Josh is the step-
grandson of Julie and Cecil Rochwerg
of Toronto, Canada.
Josh is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills, where he is a mem-
ber of the boys tennis team, scorekeep-
er for the basketball team and on the
sound and light crew.
Josh is also a regular skier with
Winter Walden, executive vice presi-
dent of Kadima/B'nai Moshe and an
active member of BBYO.
Spending Pesach in Israel this year
was especially meaningful to Josh.

Aaron Henry
Markovitz will
become a bar mitzvah
at Temple Israel on
Saturday, June 24. He
is the son of Elizabeth
Markovitz and Paul
Markovitz. Proud
grandparents are Max
and Sharron
Markovitz, Jacqueline
Markovitz and Marie and Daniel Slish.
Aaron's most meaningful mitzvah
project involved raising funds for a
needy family. A student at Coolidge
Middle School in Ferndale, Aaron likes
baseball, basketball, fishing, hunting
and golf.

Craig Shawn Phillips (Asher Leyb
Gershon) will be called to the Torah as
a bar mitzvah on Friday, June 23, at
Temple Emanu-El. Rabbi Joseph Klein
and Cantor Norman Rose will offici-
ate.
Craig is the son of Michael and
Madelyn Phillips and brother to Erik

and Margeaux. The
proud grandparents
are Yale and Irene
Phillips of
Farmington Hills.
Craig is an honor
student at
Birmingham
Covington School in
Bloomfield Hills. He enjoys music and
plays drums for the school band and
piano, which he began at age 4.
Another one of Craig's hobbies is
magic. A sports enthusiast, he partici-
pates in ice hockey, snow skiing, base-
ball, golf and skateboarding. Craig has
been a caddie at Knollwood Country
Club for the past several summers and
has achieved the rank of captain.
For Craig's mitzvah project, he
chose to volunteer at the Capuchin
Soup Kitchen, where he helped prepare
and serve meals. Craig found that very
rewarding and plans to continue to
volunteer at the soup kitchen after his
bar mitzvah.

Jessica Beth Segal of Bloomfield Hills
will be called to the Torah as a bat
mitzvah on Saturday,
June 24, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. She
is the daughter of
Terry and Bruce
Segal and sister to
Daniel. Proud
grandparents are
Alice and Andrew
Segal.
A student at Bloomfield Hills
Middle School, Jessica studies piano
and violin. She also enjoys art, skiing,
volleyball and taking care of animals.
For her mitzvah projects, Jessica
helped at the Pontiac Rescue Mission,
volunteered on weekends at the
Michigan Animal Rescue League and
made a donation to the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation in honor of her
friend Jacqui Gordon. She also orga-
nized a flower planting at the Jewish
Association for Residential Care home
in her subdivision.

as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, June 17,
at Congregation
B'nai Moshe. He is
the son of Andie and
Ted Simons and the
brother of Ezra.

are Helena and
Harvey Brody of
