Jeffrey Aaron Canvasser will be called

to the Torah as a bar mitzvah at
Shabbat services on
Saturday, June 17, at
Temple Beth El.
Joining him will be
his very proud par-
ents, Eric and
Deborah Canvasser,
and older brothers
Jason and Daniel.
He is fortunate to
share his simcha
with both sets of grandparents, Robert
and Beverly Canvasser and Jerry and
Irma Wald.
Jeffrey is a seventh grader at O.E.
Dunckel Middle School in
Farmington Hills, where he is a mem-
ber of the student council, Peer
Mediation Board, Drama Club and
the wrestling team. He enjoys skiing,
camping, music and many volunteer
opportunities.
Jeffrey began participating in many
mitzvah projects well before his bar
mitzvah training. His efforts earned
him the Farmington Families in
Action Youth Assistance Award for
outstanding youth in the community.
His current projects include work for
Yad Ezra and Temple Beth El commu-
nity-service projects, including sorting
books for the Glazer School in Detroit
and assisting at the temple's annual
coat drive.

Nina Rose Karg Chacker celebrated
her bat mitzvah on Saturday, June 3,
with the Workmen's
Wir"
Circle/Arbeter Ring,
at the Fiddler restau-
rant in West
Bloomfield. Friends
and family joined
Nina, her parents
Elissa Karg and Neil
Chacker, and her sis-
ter, brother-in-law
and niece, Shasha, Kareem and Alisha
Pitts. Nina is the granddaughter of
Dorothy Karg and Leo Berman.
Participating in the program to
honor Nina were shule students and
Workmen's Circle members singing as a
chorus, led by music teacher Esther
Freeman. Jan Adler, Sunday school
director, officiated; Selma Goode, past
district chair, brought greetings from
Workmen's Circle nationally and locally.
