oversee the Divrei (the school's
newsletter) and be a liaison with the
Parent Teacher Organization, includ-
ing holding educational conferences
for Hillel parents.

Detroit.
Originally from Atlanta, Rabbi
Greenwald graduated from the
University of Georgia. He worked at
Hillel of North Carolina at the

University of North Carolina, spent
a year in Israel as a social worker at
an absorption center and then
received a master's in social work
from the University of Pittsburgh.
After working for the Community
Relations Committee of the United
Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh, he
saw the potential for a rabbi in corn-
munity work.
JCC Executive Director David
Sorkin says he looks forward to
greeting Rabbi Greenwald, whom he
describes as having "a sense of corn-
munity and the heart and soul for
communal outreach."

Rabbi, Adat Shalom Synagogue.
A native of Denver, Rabbi Strear
began an active connection with the
Jewish community as a youth
involved with the B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization. He spent his junior
year of high school on an Israeli kib-
butz and later formed the Jewish
Student Council at the University of
Colorado in Boulder, Colo. In 1990,
the Allied Jewish Federation of
Colorado recognized him as the
state's most outstanding Jewish stu-
dent leader.
After teaching Hebrew high
school, he led teen tours to Israel .
and worked with the federation in
Colorado.
Rabbi Strear attended the
University of Judaism's graduate pro-
gram in non-profit management,
receiving his MBA in 1998. He is
married to Beth Solursh Strear, a for-
mer U-J development department
staff member, whom he met while
studying at the school.
Rabbi Daniel Nevins of Adat
Shalom says Rabbi Strear will be
welcomed at the synagogue as a full
rabbi, focusing on outreach, young
adults and youth.
