Four longtime community leaders have
been named to receive the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's
first Lifetime Achievement Awards for
service on behalf of the Jewish people.
Federation will
present the
awards to Marvin
Goldman, Diane
Hauser, Maxwell
Jospey and
Josephine Weiner
at a board of gov-
ernors meeting on
Wednesday, June
21, at the Max
M. Fisher
Marvin Goldman
Building in
Bloomfield
Township.
"These four
individuals are
remarkable for
the range of their
community
involvement, the
length of their
service and the
sincerity of their
commitment,"
Maxwell Jospey
said Federation
President Penny
Blumenstein. "I'm privileged to have
worked with each of them and to
know them as friends and models of
leadership, integrity and devotion to
our community."
The newly created annual award
was established to honor those individ-
uals who have devoted a lifetime of
service to the local Jewish community
and to the Jewish people.
Goldman formerly was chair of
Federation's Annual Campaign (for-

merly called Allied Jewish Campaign),
a member of the board of governors
and vice president of the Jewish Home
for Aged. He is a past president of
Temple Beth El and co-chair of the
Holocaust
Memorial Center
Capital
Campaign.
Hauser is for-
mer president of
the Federation
Women's
Department, Sinai
Hospital Guild
and Hadassah.
She is past. chair
Diane Hauser
of the Women's
Department
Campaign and
has received hon-
ors from the
Jewish National
Fund.
Jospey is past
president of the
United
Foundation and
Sinai Hospital.
He chaired the
Josephine Weiner
Allied Jewish
Campaign and is
a former vice president of the Jewish
Home for Aged and the Jewish
Federation. He has received honors
from the Reform Jewish Appeal.
Weiner is a past president of the
Federation Women's Department,
National Council of Jewish Women
and National Women in Community
Service. She has received honors from
the Anti-Defamation league, Women
in Community Service and Jewish
Apartments and Services

will hold a Sunday brunch picnic
for clients of Kadima 10:30 a.m.-1
p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Shepherd

the Jewish Ensemble Theatre's touring
production of I Was Just Kidding.
Financial support helps bring the play to
students throughout the area either at
reduced rates or no cost.
The production addresses how harm-
ful words can be and how children can
respond. JET encourages a "talk-back"
session following performances. I Was
Just Kidding has been seen by 10,000 .
students in 50 schools.
