Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Carly Alyn Schiff will become a bat
mitzvah on Friday, June 16, at
Temple Beth El.
She is the daughter
of Sheri and
Charles Schiff and
younger sister of
Stephanie. Carly is
the granddaughter
of Rita and Larry
Terebelo and the
late Benton and
Charlotte Schiff.
Carly is an honor student at
Derby Middle school in
Birmingham. She enjoys swimming,
lacrosse, softball, golf, art, ceramics,
forensics and attending Camp Maas.
During the summer, she will travel
to Richmond with the Detroit
Maccabi to participate in the golf
competition.
Carly has been volunteering in
the Jewish community for most of
her life. She had many meaningful
mitzvah projects that she will con-
tinue after her bat mitzvah; among
them were volunteering at the Anti-
Defamation League, Jewish
Apartments and Services, Yad Ezra
and the mayor's holiday party for
kids at Detroit's Cobo Hall. Carly
also helped her grandmother set up
the Beth Ahm Sisterhood rummage
sale.

Alex Brandt Shiffman will be called
to the Torah on Saturday, June 17,
at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is
the son of Lisa and
Gary Shiffman and
brother to Matthew
and Adam. Proud
grandmothers are
Evelyn Kasle and
Lois Shiffman.
Excited great-
grandmothers are Rose Gold and
Helen Kanat.
Alex is also the grandson of the
late Milton Shiffman and Walter
Hoffman and the great-grandson of
the late Sol Kanat, Joseph Gold,
Joseph Shiffman, Florence Shiffman-
Hermelin and Irving Hermelin.
Alex is a seventh-grade student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. He
enjoys basketball, baseball, skiing
and golf.
Alex has been involved in Torah
study with his father and brothers
in memory of his much loved
grandpa.

Andrea Michelle Shuback will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, June 17, at
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek B'nai Israel.
She is the daughter of
Mindy and Fred
Shuback and sister of
Marissa and Jeremy.
Proud grandparents
are Sharon and
Ormond Sacks and
Jewel and Rabbi Julius Shuback.
Andrea is also the great-granddaughter
of Vera Wilensky.
Andrea is a sixth-grade honor stu-
dent at Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington
Hills. She is an avid dancer and enjoys
summers at Camp Ramah. Her mitz-
vah projects included packing food at
Yad Ezra; interacting with Hechtman
residents and assisting with Yom Kippur
services at Danto Family Health Care
Center.

Blake Evan Wayne will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitz-
vah at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek on
Saturday, June 17. He
is the son of Lori and
Michael Wayne and
brother to Morgan
and Taylor. Proud
grandparents are
Marilyn and Larry
Wayne and Beverley
and Jack Singer.
Blake, a seventh grader at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills,
enjoys fishing, camping, trick skiing
and computers. Blake's mitzvah project
was delivering food to the needy
through Yad Ezra.

Corby Benjamin Winer will become a
bar mitzvah at
Temple Israel on
Saturday, June 17. He
is the son of Gini and
Richard Winer and
brother of Shaye.
Proud grandparents
are Robert Kaufman
and Carol Bendersky.
He is also the grand-
son of the late Carol
Kaufman and the late Sally and Barney
Winer.
Corby's mitzvah projects involved
planting trees in Israel, assisting younger
children in the school's media center
and donating to the Jewish Association
for Residential Care. Attending Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
where he plays in the band and sings in
