MILLER, 77, former Detroiter of Albuquerque, N.M., died. He was one of the three founders of the Detroit law firm of Garan Lucow Miller and was a highly respected trial attorney in the metropolitan area, having repre- sented insurance companies, product manufacturers, hospitals, municipalities and judges throughout his career. His peers recognized his accomplishments by electing him to the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the World War II; he served in Europe before enrolling in law school. After graduation from Wayne State University , Law School in 1948, he, Daniel Garan and Milton Lucow formed the firm that now has 80 attorneys in nine offices throughout Michigan. Mr. Miller was an opera buff, a Great Lakes sailor, an accomplished skier, an archaeologist who worked on digs in Turkey and a formidable handball player. He moved to Albuquerque in 1995 to be with his youngest children and grandchildren; there he founded and taught at the Los Ranchos Elementary Chess Club. Until recently, he contin- ued to spend time at his Detroit office on a regular basis. Mr. Miller was a member of Congregation Albert of Albuquerque, Temple Emanu-El of Oak Park and a supporter of the United Jewish Appeal.
