Zara is the daughter of Marcy and Jeff Schulman and sister to Jared. Excited are grandparents Marilyn and Leo Katz and Julius Schulman as well as great-grandmother Regina Litt. Zara is also the granddaughter of the late Marion Schulman. Zara is an honor student at Clifford Smart Middle School in Commerce Township, where she plays the French horn in the school band. She is an avid reader who enjoys art, drama and music. Zara will be traveling to Australia and New Zealand this sum- mer as part of a delegation of seventh graders with People to People, a stu- dent ambassador program. Zara's mitzvah project included helping with Jewish Experiences For Families programming and assisting at the Jewish Community Center's matza factory. She has also been a student assistant in the Temple Kol Ami reli- gious school. Scott Mitchel Shatzman will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on Saturday, June 3. Scott is the son of Karyn and Barry Shatzman and brother to Stephanie. Proud grandparents are Iris and Leo Rosen. Her great- grandparents are the late Kay and Louis Toper and the late Celia and Kopel Rosen. Scott is a seventh grader at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. He enjoys hockey, in-line skating, writing songs, music and being online. He also enjoys being with his friends at camp. Scott's most meaningful mitzvah projects were volunteering at Yad Ezra, working with residents of Jewish Association for Residential Care and donating toys to Children's Hospital. Zachary Isaac Smilovitz will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah at Havdala services on Saturday, June 3, at Temple Israel. He is the son of Donna and Bernie Smilovitz and brother of Jake. Excited grandparents are Rita and Izidor Smilovitz, Elen Schwartz and Herbert Rockwell. Zachary, is a stu- dent at Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, where he is on the student council. Zach enjoys acting and standup comedy as well as playing baseball. His most meaningful mitzvah project is volunteering at nursing homes. He also babysat at Temple Israel during services. Inga Yuditsky (Miriam) of Oak Park will be bat mitzvah at Congregation Beth Shalom on Saturday, June 3. She is the daughter of Victor and Vera Yuditsky and sister of Rebecca (Becky) Yuditsky. Very excit- ed grandmother is Eva Zelichenko of Oak Park. Inga is a seventh-grade honor stu- dent at Norup Middle School in Oak Park. She is vice president for social action on the Kadima youth group board. She is active in karate and enjoys Camp Tamarack summers and computers. Her mitzvah projects included volunteering her time at Yad Ezra, serving food at COTS and visit- ing residents at assisted living facilities. Out Of State Bar/Bat Mitzvah Jeremy Michael Koslow was called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, April 29, at Temple Beth Torah in Tamarac, Fla. Participating in the ceremony were Jeremy's mother Faith, his father Jeffrey and his grand- parents Warren and Marion Wolfe of Bloomfield Hills. Jeremy is a seventh-grade student at Plantation Middle School in Plantation, Fla. His interests include sports and computers and he is a member of the Temple Beth Torah youth group. His mitzvot included assisting hospice patients and the geri- atric population in nursing homes. Many friends and family members attended Jeremy's bar mitzvah from Michigan, Ohio and California.
