Dr. Nurnberger brings bi-partisan
relationships in both chambers of
Congress and the Clinton administra-
tion. His lobbying efforts focus on
foreign policy and high technology.
Dr. Nurnberger was the first staff
director of Builders for Peace. The
organization, established in 1993,
assists the Middle East peace process
by encouraging private-sector invest-
ment in the West Bank and Gaza. For
eight years, he 'served as a legislative
liaison for the American Israel Public
Affairs Committee and he also spent
two years as a senior fellow at the
Center for Strategic and International
Studies.

Grant Allows
Emergency Aid

The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit Board of
Governors recently was acknowledged
for a significant contribution made to
the United Jewish Communities' spe-
cial allocations program for emergency
immigration and hunger relief.
At a Federation board of governors
meeting May 24, Joint Distribution
Committee board member Mandell
Berman presented the board with a
framed collage of photographs depict-
ing activities in the former Soviet
Union.
Federation last year approved a spe-
cial grant of more than $1.2 million
to help the Jewish Agency for Israel.
The money went for the agency's res-
cue and resettlement activities and to
assist Joint Distribution Committee
efforts to feed the poor, primarily in
the former Soviet Union.
