Dr. Bryan P. Shumaker of
Waterford, a member of the
Michigan Institute of Urology PC,
who also serves as director of laser
science, research and technology at
St. John Hospital and Medical
Center in Detroit, has been accept-
ed as a life member by the National
Registry of Who's Who. The accep-
tance of Dr. Shumaker is in recog-
nition of his exemplary service both
in the community and the profes-
sion in applying laser technology to
the treatment of prostate disorders.

Dr. Robert D. Beitman will present
findings on vision correction of far-
sightedness at the American Society
of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
Symposium on "Cataract, IOL and
Refractive Surgery" in Boston. He
worked in collaboration with Dr.
Joseph Rosenschein, technical
director of the DMC Clear Vision
Center in Farmington Hills. Dr.
Beitman is founder of Beitman
Laser Eye Institute in West
Bloomfield.

Penny B. Blumenstein of Bloomfield
Hills has been appointed to the board
of trustees of the Henry Ford Health
System. Blumenstein is president of
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.

A group called JAGS (Jewish
Alcoholics, Chemically Dependent
Persons and Significant others) will
