Island
University's
C.W. Post
College by
winning the
Eastern
Storm
Collegiate
Kirschenbaum
Athletic
Conference
Merit Medal.
The award cites one male and one
female athlete in the conference for
high academic and athletic achieve-
ment.
Kirschenbaum graduated magna
cum laude this spring. After suffering
an injury and sitting out most of last
year, he was converted to catcher and
designated hitter this season. He bat-
ted .306, had a .430 on-base percent-
age and was among the leaders in
NCAA Division I in being hit by
pitchers (12 times).
Kirschenbaum was most valuable
player at Birmingham Groves High
School in 1996 and named to the
Michigan High School Baseball
Coaches Association dream team. He
signed a scholarship and played two
years at the University of Florida
before transferring to C.W. Post.
He will attend the University of
Detroit-Mercy Law School this fall.
