A HELICOPTER was used to put
17 new state-of-the-art heating and
cooling assemblies on the roof at
Franklin Fitness & Racquet Club on
Northwestern Highway ... Reason it
was closed until noon on installation
day ... was because federal regulators
said that nobody could be in the club
at helicopter time.

FOR THE PAST 55 years, three
friends of long standing make sure
they see each other at least once every
month by having lunch together ..._
Ruben Isaacs, Murry Koblin and Al
Favale.
All worked years back for Rube and
his Ruben Advertising Agency ...
Murry was Ruben's art director in the
'505 .., and Al, after 50 years with
Rube as a copywriter, retired about
two years ago.
Murry left in the late '40s ... and
after stints as advertising manager
with retailers Boyer's Haunted Shacks,
Hadley-Finsterwald's, went into his
own ad business 45 years ago ... He
still maintains his SK Advertising (as
in wife Shirley Koblin's initials) in the
basement of their Walled Lake home.
Rube continues to operate Ruben
Advertising Agency.
SOMEBODY AT THE Freshwater
Lodge Restaurant in Traverse City is
quite innovative with some of the dishes
there ... Atlantic salmon "flame kissed"
and brushed with huckleberry glaze ...
and broiled whitefish topped with sun-
dried tomato strips, chunky roma toma-
toes and sun-dried tomato vinaigrette.
WITH ANOTHER restaurant
going under at the site, the count is
three that have bitten the dust ... on
Orchard Lake Road, north of Maple ...
Joining the former Confetti's, Memphis
Smoke and Flying Fish is now
Madison's American Bistro, opened just
a couple of months ago.
ARE THE RUMORS true ... that
after all these- years, Midtown Cafe
will close in August? ... That Norm
LePage and Bruce Cameron will open
a bar/grill near the Townsend Hotel in
Birmingham?
