AJC Hosts
Annual Meeting

Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of the
American Jewish Committee will host
its 55th annual meeting, starting with
a kosher Israeli-style dinner, 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 7, at the Max M.
Fisher Jewish Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township. The program at
7: 1 5 p.m. includes elections, a busi-
ness meeting and presentation focus-
ing on international relief agencies.
The American Jewish Committee's
mission includes the monitoring and
persecution of human and civil rights.
This year's program will explore relief
efforts for the hungry, homeless,
oppressed and persecuted. The
evening's speaker will be Patricia L.
Delaney of George Washington
University, who has been a consultant
for the U.S. on relief efforts.
The meeting will include a tribute
to the outgoing president, Frederick J.
Frank. The slate of officers includes
Martin Baum, chapter president;
Kenneth C. Gold, Lisa S. Gretchko,
Alan Schlang, Dr. Kenneth Wolf,
chapter vice presidents; Allen Olender,
secretary; and Judith Greenstone
Miller, treasurer.
The evening is open to the commu-

JCC Slates
Enrichment

Visual and performing art classes are
available at the Jewish Community
Center of West Bloomfield.
Belly dancing will be offered on
Tuesdays at 9 a.m., starting June 13.
Traditional and new Israeli dances will
be taught Wednesdays at 6:30 and
7:30 p.m.
An introductory course in jewelry
making and a needlepoint class are
available. The jewelry—making class
will teach the basics Thursdays at 7
p.m., starting June 15. The needle-
point class projects will have a Jewish
theme. Class meets Wednesdays at 11
a.m., starting June 14.
In "Staying Healthy on a Kosher
Platter," a registered dietician will
guide the class through strategies for
eating well while following kashrut.
The class meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m.,
starting June 6.
