Schindler was called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on Friday, May 12, at
Temple Emanu-El.
She is the daughter of
Dr. David and Nancy
Schindler and sister
to Michael. Proud
grandparents are Jack
and Helen Maltz and
Morris and Janet
Schindler.
Lisa is a seventh-grade honor stu-
dent at Novi Middle School. She
enjoys acting and singing. She has
been in the temple's youth choir for
four years and in many plays through
the Novi theaters.
For her mitzvah project, Lisa volun-
teered at Adopt-a-Pet. Also, through the
choir, she sang at hospitals and nursing
homes. In addition, Lisa volunteered at
Menorah House.

will be called to the Torah as a bat mitz-
vah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on
Saturday, May 20. She is the daughter
of Allan and Karen
Lovinger and the
youngest sister of
Alyssa, Stephanie and
Lauren. Lizzy is the
granddaughter of the •
late Sam and Sylvia
Isaacs and the late
Arthur and Rose
Lovinger.
Lizzy is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. She enjoys acting,
dancing, singing, volleyball and Camp
Ramah. Her mitzvah projects include
donating food baskets to Yad Ezra, visit-
ing Fleischman Residence as part of
Hillel's Dor L'Dor program and babysit-
ting every Shabbat at Congregation
Shan rey Zedek.

Emily and Eric are the twin children
of Rachel Becker of Keego Harbor and
Dennis Shepley of Windsor, Ontario,
the sister and brother of Andrew
Shepley and the grandchildren of
Dorothea Becker of Bloomfield Hills
and the late Dr. Abraham Becker. Dr.

Becker was particular-
ly cheered by his twin
grandchildren, as they
helped with his care
at Woodward Hills
Nursing Center prior
to his recent death.
Emily and Eric are
seventh-grade stu-
dents at Hillel Day
School of
Metropolitan Detroit
in Farmington Hills.
Emily is active playing
soccer, volleyball and
basketball on the
school teams. She will
demonstrate her skill
in basketball this summer as a member
.of the Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit's Maccabi basket-
ball team.
Eric enjoys playing soccer, basketball
and cross-country/track on the school
teams. Eric and Emily also compete
with each other in these sports at home.
They especially enjoy playing basketball
with friends and neighbors on their
back yard court. Eric also enjoys danc-
ing, in-line skating and water sports.
Emily and Eric's most meanin
mitzvah projects have been volunteering
at Yad Ezra food pantry and the Jewish
Association for Residential Care. They
have spent summers at Camp Tamarack
with their Becker cousins from Israel
and at the beach.

Out Of State
Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Dara Elana Pastor will celebrate her bat
mitzvah at Temple Judea in Tarzana,
Calif, on Saturday, May 20. Dara is the
daughter of Dennis
and Mona Pastor of
Encino, Calif Dennis
is a former Detroiter,
as is proud grandfa-
ther Maurice Pastor of
Las Vegas. Dara is also
the granddaughter of
the late Etta (Eserow)
Pastor.
Dam, a seventh-grade honor student
at- Sierra Canyon Middle School in
Chatsworth, Calif, co-founded HAWK
(Helping Abused Women and Kids), a
mitzvah project that collects toiletries
and toys for a halfway house.
Detroiters attending the festivities
include Camp Tanuga pals Lauren
Lefkowitz, Adam Pullman and Casey
Smith. Dara is an enthusiastic seven-year
veteran of Camp Tanuga; the rest of the
year she enjoys dancing, volleyball and
designing handcrafted accessories.
