Xs • ' \\ \\\ „ \\\- \ • •\," • ' •-\&vs,A, \ The Jewish FederatiOn's Young Adult Division invites you to a U-M Grants Honorary Degrees Among the six honorary degree winners from the University of Michigan were David Hermelin, former U.S. ambassador to Norway, and Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter and film director. Hermelin is a Michigan busi- nessman, philanthropist and community leader. After receiv- ing a bachelor's degree in busi- ness administration from the U- M in 1958, he joined his father's the Robin's Nest Plaza at 14 Mile Road) insurance business. He has been a business partner in numerous other ven- tures, including Arbor Drugs Inc., David Hermelin First of America Bank Corporation, Ha-Lo Industries, Palace Sports and Entertainment, Phoenicia America-Israel Flat Glass Ltd. and Village Green Apartments. Hermelin is recognized interna- tionally for his philanthropic leadership. Kasdan is a film director who has written and directed some of the most influential films of the last 20 years. He directed nine films: Body Heat, The Big Thursday, June 1 Chill, Silverado, The Accidental Tourist, I Love You to Death, Grand Canyon, Wyatt Earp, French Kiss and Mumford.
