Gun Violence
Tops Agenda

The issues of gun violence, educa-
tion vouchers and elder care will top
the agenda at a Women in Politics
brown-bag lunch coordinated by the
Jewish Community Council and the
National Council of Jewish Women.
The session takes place 11:30 a.m.
Monday, June 5, at the NCJW
offices, 26400 Lahser Road,
Southfield.
Speakers for the event will
include Lynn Alexander, director of
the Office of Services to the Aging, -
state of Michigan; State
Representative Gilda Jacobs (D-
Huntington Woods); and Kathleen
Straus, member of the State Board
of Education:
Cosponsors for the event include
Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah; Jewish Community
Council of Metropolitan Detroit;
Na'amat; Greater Detroit Section of
Council of National Jewish Women;
and Women's American ORT.
The event is open to the public at
no charge.

donor luncheon will be 11:45 a.m.

23, at the syn-
agogue. It will
feature Jazz
InVoice, a
group of
singers and
instrumental-
ists from the
Wayne State
University
School of
Jeanette Eizelman
Music.
The sister-
hood is salut-
ing Jeanette Eizelman for her years
of service not only to sisterhood but
also to the synagogue and the com-
munity.
Eizelman has served on the execu-
tive committee as vice president of
programming, membership and ways
and means. She also served as trea-
surer and financial secretary.
Additionally, she was chairperson
of sisterhood catering and both edi-
tions of the Beth Shalom cookbooks.
She holds the honor of Beth Shalom
Sisterhood's Woman of Achievement.
Eizelman helped create Yad Ezra,
the Oak Park kosher food pantry,
and served as its executive director
for five years. She is still involved as
a volunteer and board member.
Co-chairs of the event are Ethel
Fitzerman, Bernice Gill and Liz
Kannon. Assisting them are mem-
bers of the donor committee: Marcia
Abel, Anita Epstein, Linda Lublin,
Anna Mickel, Ellen Racusin, Lynn
Rich and Marcia Tanzman.
