The Cantors Assembly and the Laker
family will honor Sarah Laker in a din-
ner/banquet celebra-
tion in honor of her
90th birthday at 5:30
p.m. Tuesday, May 23,
at the Hyatt Regency
Hotel in Dearborn.
A new Ma'ariv ser-
vice by Charles
Davidson will be per-
formed-with a chil-
dren's choir comprised
of students from Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit,
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and
Temple Israel, directed by Cantor Lori
Corrsin of Temple Israel.
The evening will include a musical
presentation of "Hazzanim in Love,"
featuring husband and wife teams who
are members of the Assembly, perform-
ing music including Broadway show
tunes, Yiddish songs and operettas.
The event chair is Robert H. Naftaly;
honorary chairmen, former Ambassador
David Hermelin and William Davidson;
dinner co-chairs Marvin Fleishman,
Lawrence Jackier and Myron Milgrom.
Proceeds go to support the education
and recruitment programs of the
Cantors Assembly and scholarships for
students attending the H.L. Miller
Cantorial School of the Jewish
Theological Seminary.

Hosts Ambassador

Ambassador Alan Baker, legal adviser to
Israel's Foreign Ministry, will address the
Einstein Luncheon Forum of the
Zionist Organization of America
Michigan Region, 12:30 p.m. Monday,
May 22, at the ZOA auditorium, 17100
W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield.
A native of England, Ambassador
Baker holds law degrees from University
of London and Hebrew University in
Jerusalem. He has been involved in the
Middle East peace-process negotiations
with Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and
the PLO. Formerly, he was senior legal
officer in the military advocate general's
unit of the Israel Defense Forces and
with Israel's delegation to the United
Nations.
