Juvenile Diabetes Foundation's 2000
Promise Ball on May 8 raised a record
amount for one evening: $200,000.
More than 350 patrons attended the
benefit arranged by Metropolitan
Detroit Chapter, whose chairs were
Janice Cherkasky, Dr. Linda Honet
and John Ponzio.
The Jane L. Cobb Promise Award
was presented for the first time in
three categories. Recipients were Dr.
Eva Feldman and Dr. Douglas
Greene; Elizabeth Pethick; and Helen
and Norman Wachler.
JDF will host more events in the
coming months. A golf outing on
Tuesday, June 27, is planned at
Indianwood Country Club, and the
Walk to Cure Diabetes is Sunday,
Sept. 17, at two locations: the General
Motors Tech Center in Warren and
Domino's Farms in Ann Arbor. For

ANDOVER FILMMAKER
Ben Ketai, a writer, director and top
student at Bloomfield Hills Andover
High School, will premier his latest
film Incarnate Wednesday, May 24, at
Andover. He is the son of Bob Ketai
and Bonnie Fishman.
Fellow students David Adler, Ben
Falik, Jeremy Heuer, Rachel Lewis,
Adam Ogusky and JoAnna Spanos
appear in the movie. Josh Grant is the
musical composer.
Ketai was profiled in the Jewish
News Cap & Gown section on May
12, as were Adler, Falik and Ogusky.
