Four Named
To JCC Board

Four Detroiters were named to the
board of the Jewish Community
Centers Association of North America at
its biennial convention in Boston.
Lawrence Wolfe, president of the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit, was named to a
two-year term as director-at-large.
David Sorkin, JCC executive direc-
tor, was named to the professionals divi-
sion for a two-year term.
Former JCC President Irwin Elson
was elected to the JCCA honorary
board, while Douglas Bloom, JCC past
president, was named to the JCC board
of directors for a two-year term.

Beth Shalom
Shavuot Event

Grandmothers and grandfathers are
invited to celebrate Shavuot at a holiday
luncheon 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at
Congregation Beth Shalom.
Grandparents are encouraged to bring
their grandchildren.
A dairy luncheon will be served at a
charge of $10 for adults, $5 for children.
Youngsters age 3 and younger are free of
charge.
Sponsoring the luncheon is the con-
gregation's Shabbat and Holidays
Committee.
The reservation deadline is Friday,
June 2. For information, call Gail

Israel Fest Volunteers
Are Sought

Volunteers are needed to help oversee
various activities at "Passport to Israel"
1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 21, during the
annual Israel Fest on the grounds of
Temple Emanu-El in Oak Park.
An orientation for volunteers will be
held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 in the
Butzel Suites at the Max. M. Fisher
Federation Building in Bloomfield
Township.
Volunteer duties include running
food tents, handing out "passports" and
working crafts booths.
Israel Fest takes place in honor of
Israel's 52nd anniversary. The Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's
Michigan/Israel Connection is sponsor-
ing the event.
