Lipstadt won the case on April 11. Assad Travels To Egypt Jerusalem/JTA — Syrian President Hafez Assad arrived in Cairo for talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Hosni Mubarak. The meeting comes amid reports in the Arab press that Syria is enlisting the support of key Arab allies in a bid to revive its peace talks with Israel. Holocaust Marked At Capitol Washington/JTA — Members of the U.S. Congress and leaders of the Jewish community commemorated the Holocaust in a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. The May 5 program included a tra- ditional candlelighting ceremony with the participation of Holocaust sur- vivors. Independence Day Clashes Erupt Jerusalem/JTA — Seven Israeli police officers and at least two Israeli Arabs were injured in clashes that erupted during an Independence Day celebra- tion for the Jewish state. About 300 protesters disrupted the celebration in the Israeli Arab village of Shfaram, throwing rocks at police and setting fire to cars and tires.
