are installed.
So, on May 4, the newest tenants of the
Max M. Fishes. Federation Building held an
open house and mezuza installation.
The building, on Telegraph Road south of Maple in
Bloomfield Township, has become the center for agencies
and activities of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit. Its latest additions are the Agency for Jewish
Education and the Michigan/Israel Connection. Because
of their interconnected activities, the two have separate
but connected suites on the third floor.
"I love my new office here. It's very professional,"
said Lisa Soble-Siegmann, director of the AJE's
Jewish Experiences For Families.
AJE president James Jonas, who helped
design the new space, agreed. "Certain things
are downsized [from the former AJE offices on
12 Mile Road in Southfield], but it's more effi-
cient."
Rabbi Paul Yedwab of Temple Israel spoke at
the mezuza installation at the Michigan/Israel
Connection offices, while Mark Myers, com-
munity shaliach, affixed the mezuza to the
doorframe.
Installing the AJE mezuza was Rabbi Steven
Weil of Young Israel of Oak Park, assisted by
Judah Isaacs, AJE's executive director. Rabbi
Weil referred to the biblical injunction to
"write them upon the doorposts of your house,
and upon your gates."
"In practice, every day of their lives these people ful-
fill the words and the point of the mezuza," he said. ❑
