Arlene Barris

Host — body of Christ, in Roman
Catholic theology). He could not con-
tain his smile.
Litt was whispering to others on
stage, and I assumed he took credit for
discovering me.
But the MOT committed one major
snafu. As I looked for my dressing
room, I found that I had to share one
with 30 other supers. Share a dressing
room!
What to do? Do I complain? I had
the right to, of course, considering my
role, but should I create a scene (no pun
intended)? I decided to let it go. But
here's a warning, MOT: Next time, no
more Mr. Nice Guy.
On opening night, following my
blessings with the monstrance, the stage
blacked out. The curtain dropped and
was raised for our tableau bow and the
audience filled the hall with applause.
I instinctively knew that most of that
applause was for me. Yes, the singers
were good as were the other supers. But
compared to my role as the cardinal,
well ...
Oh, I suppose I should mention
some of the singers with lead roles: Amy
Johnson (Tosca), Justino Diaz (Scarpia)
and Ian Denolfo (Cavaradossi). They
were okay. ❑

for the sixth in a series of Town Hall
meetings sponsored by the Jewish

Hosted by Congregation Bet
Chaverim, the meeting will be held
7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the
Summit on the Park Banquet and
Conference Center, 4600 Summit
Parkway in Canton.
Developed in consultation with
organizational partners and area
residents, each Town Hall meeting

to learn about the various services
provided by metro-area Jewish
organizations, discuss their needs
and explore the unique issues fac-
ing them as Jewish members of
their community. Leaders from
area congregations and agencies
will be on hand to take part in the
meetings and respond to questions.
For information, call the Jewish
