Harris will speak

"The Israeli and the American
Electoral Systems: Implications for
Policy Making." Harris, an expert on
American public policy and Middle
East politics, is a professor of politi-
cal science at Eastern Michigan
University. He is also the undergrad-
uate studies coordinator for EMU
and will become associate vice presi-
dent for academic affairs.

Hosts Scholar

Congregation Beth Israel in Flint
will sponsor a scholar in residence
weekend May 5-7, featuring Rabbi
Moshe Edelman, director of leader-
ship development for the United
Synagogue for Conservative Judaism.
The theme of the weekend will be
"Finding Jewish Spirituality."
During Shabbat, Rabbi Edelman
will give three lectures, open to all
members of the community: Friday, 8
p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.; and Saturday,
1 p.m. All will take place at the syna-
gogue, 5240 Calkins Road, Flint.
Community members are also
invited to a dessert reception and
Havdala with Rabbi Edelman at 8
p.m. Saturday at the home of
Leonard and Gail Shulman, 5481
Sugarbush Lane, Flint Township.
On Sunday morning, the rabbi
will conduct a leadership training
seminar for all members of the board
of directors and officers of the sister-
hood and men's club.
