Laura Polk, the daughter of Eileen and

Richard Polk of Huntington Woods,
will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday,
May 6, at
Congregation Beth
Shalom. Laura's
brothers are Sam and
Brian. Her grandpar-
ents are Marcia
Klain, Edith Polk
and the late Jack
Main and Samuel Polk.
Laura, a seventh-grade student at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park,
enjoys music and sports. She plays
trumpet in the band and jan band and
is active in basketball and softball. She
also plays ice hockey with the
Birmingham Rangers.
For her mitzvah project, Laura
volunteered to assist in teaching
beginning ice skating at the Berkley
Ice Arena.
