In Israel, memories of loved ones killed in victory are like fresh wounds — open and aching and still painfully new. In a country of sever- al million citizens, where more than 20,000 have died in battle, virtually Tears are shed at a memorial service held at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem to mark Heroes Remembrance Day everyone has lost a family member or close friend. So there are no pic- nics, no shopping extravaganzas. Yom HaZikaron, Israel's Memorial Day for its fallen soldiers, is Tuesday, May 9.
