Reform Women
Hold Assembly

Women of Reform Judaism
District 10 held its Biennial
Assembly April 7-9 in Novi.
Temple Kol Ami's Sisterhood
hosted the biennial. Shelley
Willner, Shirley Rosenberg and
Cindy Faber were local arrange-
ments chairs. Nancy Apfel of
Wise Temple, Cincinnati, Ohio,
was installed as president of
District 10.
Local women installed were
Madeline Bassin, Temple Kol Ami,
West Bloomfield, vice president,
advancement of WRJ projects and
financial development; Deena
Lockman, Temple Beth El,
Bloomfield Township, leadership
development chair; Shirley
Harkless, Temple Beth Emeth,
Ann Arbor, older adults chair; and
Cathy Lichtman, Temple Emanu-
El, Oak Park, World
Union/ARZA/JBI/Israel chair.
Sandra Stocker, Temple Israel,
West Bloomfield, sits on the
District 10 Board as a WRJ
national board member.
Shelley Willner, Temple Kol
Ami, will be membership chair
and Michelle Simpson, Temple
Shir Tikvah, will be speakers
bureau chair.
The presidents of the local sis-
terhoods also sit on the District 10
board. They include Nancy Jonas,
Temple Israel; JoAnn MacWilliams
Wolf, Temple Beth El. Other
member sisterhoods include
Temple Emanu-El; Congregation
Shir Tikvah; Temple Kol Ami;
Temple Beth El, Flint; and Temple
Beth Emeth, Ann Arbor.
Representing WRJ was
President Judith Silverman.
Among the other presenters were
Rabbi Sheila Goloboy, Temple
Beth El; Rabbi Lane Steinger,
director, Midwest Council, Union
of American Hebrew
Congregations, formerly of
Temple Emanu-El; and Torah
scribe Neil Yerman.
The theme of the biennial was
"Tikkun Hanesfesh — Nourishing
Our Souls: Realizing Sisterhood
Needs Through Sisterhood Know-
How." Workshops focused on
women's needs and on individuals
as a group of sisterhood members.
