Presently, Krich is busy working on
her 10th novel, tentatively titled
Wayward Son. It deals with teen vio-
lence. "And of course, Jesse will be
continuing to take baby steps in her
exploration of Judaism. She is very
much intrigued by Judaism and is
enjoying her spiritual journey."
Krich admits that being an
Orthodox Jewish writer can present
challenges. "Sometimes when I am on
the road on Shabbat, it's difficult and I
have to plan ahead," she points out. "I
have to find out where the exits are so
I can walk the stairs, and make sure
the doors are not electronic. I find it
doable, just not always convenient."
Krich- says when she sent her first
manuscript to editors, she never
thought that one day she would
become a critically acclaimed novelist.
"It was only a fantasy," she says. "But
the truth is that a fantasy will remain
a fantasy unless you sit down with a .
pen and paper or a computer and try
your hardest to get published.
"For me there was always that fear
of failure, especially since it's such a
competitive marketplace. But I knew
if I didn't take the risk, I would never
know for sure. And I am grateful that
I did." El
