Temple Teachers
Are Honored

Temple Beth El teachers were honored
at a Teacher Appreciation Shabbat on
April 7. Teachers in the temple's nurs-
ery, religious and high school programs
were presented framed certificates
thanking them for their dedication.
Elizabeth Bloch, director of education,
delivered the sermon.

Study Scholarships
For Youth

Adat Shalom Synagogue is making
scholarships available to any young
adult in the community for participa-
tion in an approved study program.
Applications are now being accepted
from college students for a year's study
in Israel. The Samuel and Dora
Kobaker Memorial Scholarship offers
the winning student $1,500 to study
at an accredited college or university in
Israel. Students may also apply for the
Harry and Sarah Laker Memorial
Scholarship, a grant of $2,500 for uni-
versity level study in Israel.
The Robert and Gertrude Berman
Scholarship is available to college stu-
dents interested in pursuing Judaic
studies in the United States or Israel. A
$1,500 stipend will be awarded.
Applicants for all scholarships must
be residents of the metropolitan
Detroit area currently attending a col-
lege or university in the United States.
Deadline for applications is May 8. For
