F

or eight straight years, Yad Ezra and the
Moies Chetim Organization of Detroit have
banded together to distribute Passover food
to more than 1,000 needy Jewish families.
On Sunday and Monday, April 9-10, more than
50 volunteers boxed all the items necessary for a
seder — food, English/Hebrew Haggadot and
Passover guides printed in Russian and English.
To accommodate the needs at Passover, the Yad
Ezra kosher food pantry in Oak Park was totally
reorganized to accommodate the clients, volunteers
and food. Volunteers and Yad Ezra board members
distributed the packages.
"It was a wonderful effort that inspired a lot of
goodwill," said Lea Luger, Yad Ezra development direc-
tor. "The volunteers felt that they were making a differ-
ence on this very special holiday, which is all about lib-
eration and caring about your fellow human beings."
