The Solomon Family Seder

Harry Solomon was president of the Chesed Shel Emes
from 1927 to 1936; its now known as the Hebrew
Benevolent Society. He also was a founding member of
Hebrew Memorial Cemetery,
Ida Solomon and other laclies were actively involved in
the \Vomen's Auxiliary of Chesed Shel Ernes, being presi-
dent for more than 30 years.
Shown at a 1933 seder at the Detroit home of Daily
and Joseph Chodoroff on Owen Street are from left,
Belle Solomon (Litinsky Epstein), Rose Solomon
(Rudolph), Pauline Gorman (Apell), Shirley Gorman
(Shultz), Everett Gorman, Jessie Solomon Gorman,
Philip Gorman, Harry Solomon and Ida Yashinsky
Solomon. At right are Gertrude Solomon (Luhetsky),
Ann Solomon (Krupp), George Chodoroff (Nevman),

- Seder Saved On Tape
Several. years ago, .my father, Bert Jacobs.,. had a

minor heart attack shorti before. Passover-. My
father loved spending .the seders with his fami-
. ly-„ not having - him there at my cousin:s . seder
Was Very difficult for-everybody.
My cousin Fred Jacobs solved:our problem
-.neatly by:tape-recording the seder. This way,
-my -dad . could - hear .everything; everyone could
say hello_ and. wish -him well and he could hear
the kids ask the Four Questions. My dad- was
...included even without being there eating..
My. dad healed verYwell and is - still.
working part-time.
