Cantor Henry Rosenblum

Cantor Henry Rosenblum, JTS
dean of the H.L. Miller Cantorial
School and the College of Jewish
Music, will be the keynote speaker. An
evening of Jewish music will feature
cantorial student George Mordecai
and accompanists.
Chazzan Rosenblum completed his
studies at New York- based JTS, where
he received the diploma of chazzan and
a bachelor of sacred music in 1972. He
later returned to serve on the faculty as
an instructor and is now the first cantor
to assume the position of dean.
George Mordecai is a senior cantor-
ial student at JTS. He grew up in
Sydney, Australia, in a family of
Judeo-Iraqi background. Before com-
ing to JTS he served as assistant cantor
at Temple Emanuel in Woolahra, a
suburb of Sydney.
Chazzan Mordecai will be accom-
panied on guitar and mandolin by
Rabbi Samuel Feldman, who graduat-
ed from JTS in 1991. He is is spiritual
leader of Temple Emanuel of North
Jersey in Paterson as well as a profes-
sional musician.
In addition, Professor Taoufik Ben-
Amor will join on drums and percus-
sion. Dr. Ben-Samor isprofessor of lin-
guistics at Columbia University. He is
involved in Arab and Judeo-Arab music.
