"I'm 35 and very Zionistic," says
Simko, who affiliated with the Ruach
Group and has gone on a mission to
Israel. "I met a young Israeli soldier who
saved children from an attack on a bus.
He was told he would not take another
step, but through the medical facilities
supported by Hadassah, he was able to
walk again.
"When I see all the strides Hadassah
is making in medical research, I really
feel I'm having an important effect on
people," Simko says.
Andrea Trivax of West Bloomfield,
co-president of the Mitzvah Group, con-

her the chance to meet more people in
the Jewish community She plays piano
and teaches music in the Temple Israel
educational program.
"Through Temple Israel, I made a lot
of friends in the Reform movement, but
through Hadassah, I've met people who
are from more traditional homes," says
Trivax, 39. "I feel Hadassah projects let
me help the Middle East community
and the world." ❑
