srael's Lenny
Solomon, the
"shlock rocker,"
paid a visit to
Young Israel of Oak
Park's Purim seuda (meal
celebration) on March
21 as part of a national
tour.
His family concert of
Jewish songs set to pop-
ular music proved a big
hit with the 365 partici-
pants. The children got
to dance and also
enjoyed a Purim spoof.
"It put people in a
good mood," said
Sharon Cohen, co-chair
of the third annual
event with Adell Kleid.
Cohen explained that
on Purim "you're not
only supposed to eat a
festive meal" in celebra-
tion of the Jews' tri-
umph over wicked
Haman — thanks to
Mordechai's and Queen
Esther's influence over
King Ahasuerus — "but
also be happy."
