Learning Focus
For T'chiyah

Congregation T'chiyah, the Detroit
area's first Reconstructionist synagogue,
has announced its spring schedule of
Shabbat and holiday services.
Each T'chiyah service is led by a
team of members who plan the ser-
vice and prepare a D'var Torah or
topic for discussion. Services often
reflect the special interests and talents
of the service leaders.
A special service is being planned
by Larry Horwitz for Saturday, April
29, to be followed by a vegetarian
Ethiopian lunch. Seifu Lessanework
of the Blue Nile restaurant will talk
about the Jews of Ethiopia.
T'chiyah will have a congregational
seder on Thursday, April 20, and
plans for a Lag B'Omer picnic are
under way.
T'chiyah services are held at the
Royal Oak Woman's Club, 404 S.
Pleasant Street in Royal Oak. For ser-
vice dates and times, check the
Spirituality listings in the Jewish

News.

JFS Seeks
Child Clients

Jewish Family Service is seeking boys
and girls of single-parent homes who
might benefit from a special friend-
ship with a caring adult.
The JFS Special Friends program
matches adult mentors (ages 21 and
over) with children ages 6-16. Adult
mentors must be willing to commit a
few hours a week for at least one year.
Both parties are provided ongoing
support from JFS staff. Volunteer
mentors are carefully screened, trained
and monitored by JFS.
For information, call Michelle
Greenstein, (248) 559-1500.
