which she has registered at Nancy's
Linens in Keego Harbor.
Silver serving pieces also catch her
eye. She spied some mother-of-pearl,
silver-handled salad servers, a silver
epergne, tall geometric vases and a
whimsical nut bowl at Presence II in
Birmingham. Antique glass candle-
sticks make their list, as do crystal
accessories. "I think Jacobson's has
the prettiest crystal pieces," says
Karen. "And it's so easy to register
there."
Brides often worry about what to
give their attendants, but Karen has
that dilemma figured out already.
She'll give her wedding parry silver-
plated jewelry boxes with a pair of
custom-designed earrings inside.

Bundles Of_ joy

Lori and Paul Wolf of Birmingham
welcomed their first child, a girl, in
March, and celebrated her birth with
a small ceremony at Adat Shalom
Synagogue in Farmington Hills.
Long before she was born, Lori
envisioned the nursery and all of the
little keepsakes she hoped to receive
from family and friends who wished
to honor her baby's arrival.

"I wanted a really feminine space
filled with sterling silver mementos,"
she said. Her wish list included silver
picture frames, a dainty clock, a
spoon, cup and bowl set, a comb and
brush, a first tooth box and a birth-
certificate holder. "And I wished for a
beautiful silver tray on which to.dis- •
play these things," she says.
She also wanted to start a collec-
tion of Madame Alexander dolls.
On a more practical note, Lori
picked the Peg-Prego black leather
high chair from Right Start in the
Somerset Collection in Troy and the
Combi 7.7 travel stroller, as well as
the latest learning toys. She found
most everything she needed at
Adventures in Toys in Birmingham,
Jacobson's, Presence II,. Ribbons in
Birmingham and Right Start in the
Sommerset Collection.
A new mom might appreciate the
thoughtful gift of catering for her son's
brit (circumcision) or daughter's baby
naming. After all, she's exhausted, dis-
- tracted, elated and otherwise preoccu-
pied. Bonnie Fishman of Bonnie's
Patisserie in Southfield caters brit cere-
monies on short notice, and guaran-
tees her fare and presentation to be
much more elegant than a deli tray.
