SUZANNE CHESSLER Special to the Jewish News 3 anet Kelman floats scuba diving images to dry land by creating and displaying a new body of work for Michigan Glass Month. Although titled "For the Love of Glass," her exhibition at the Washington Street Gallery in Ann Arbor also is done for the love of deep sea exploration and snorkeling. The artist, who works out of a studio in Royal Oak, sus- pended her larger glass work — entryways, windows, fur- niture, mirrors — to concentrate on show pieces, such as GLASS on page 84 Janet Kelman in her studio: Building "pieces that sparkle." Kelman's glass "Peilione Bottles" are in the shapes ofsnails with twisty stoppers that look like little tongues. SS 3/31 2000 79
