eslie Jacobs and her daughter
Lauren envisioned a total
look as they planned Lauren's
wedding. While they wanted
an all-white ambience, except for the
bridesmaids' dresses, they also wanted
an effect that would not be ordinary.
One important element, the two
decided, would be the table linen.
Planning beyond the utilitarian cloths
provided by the hall, they opted for
rentals and all the choices in shades,
fabrics and styles.

Bloomfield Hills, Jacobs found a

table, but I wanted it to have enough
texture so that it wouldn't be limp,
the West Bloomfield resident says. "I
wanted it to be beautiful, elegant and
reach the floor, and I needed to go to
rentals for that."
Party Linens, owned by Francene
Kaplan and Suzanne Bluestein, sup-
plies decorative linens for 30 to 80
parties a week. Their clients have
ranged from event planners with guest
lists numbering in the high hundreds
to couples planning romantic dinners
at home.
"You can change the room with
linens, so that it really is your own
party," says Kaplan, who is able to coor-
dinate tablecloths with skirting, napkins,
