he seventh annual . "Women's Power Breakfast,:
to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank was
held last week at the Gem Theatre's Century
Club in Detroit. More than 200 patrons attend-
ed the event to raise money for the hungry.
Diana Lewis, WXYZ-TV anchor, greeted the guests.
"The problem of hunger is the grim reality of daily life,"
said Lewis. She also noted the recent study revealing that
49 percent of the hungry in Michigan are children and
seniors. Dulcie Rosenfeld, whose vision created the first
women's breakfast, also addressed the crowd. Patti Knox,
Peg Tallet and Mary Lou Zieve were the event co-chair-
men. Guest speaker was Karen Schrock of Adult Well
Being Services of Detroit.
The program noted many patrons. Rosenfeld and Julie
Cummings, Linda Kohlenberg and Edie Slotkin were list-
ed as archangels. Attending from. Gleaners were its chair-
man of the board Don Slotkin and president Rick
Loewenstein.
Some of the powerful women in the crowd included
Sharona Shapiro, Maine Waldshan,
Julie Cummings, Harriet Rotter, Karen
Katz, Pat Rosen, Doris August,
Rosanne Duncan, Marla Drutz, Marsha
Baum, Carol Dunitz and Lynne Daitch.

JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan recently held a reception at the
Guardian Industries World Headquarters
in Auburn Hills
to present a
plaque to
William
Davidson, chair-
man of
Guardian.
The plaque
acknowledged
Davidson's gift
to endow the
Jewish Historical Photo by James D. Grey
Society's journal Michigan Jewish History in the names of
Sarah and Ralph Davidson and Bessie and Joseph
Wetsman. They are the parents and grandparents of
Davidson and his sister, Dorothy Davidson Gerson.
More than 100 patrons attended the reception, which
included a private tour of the exhibit "Ancient Glass From
the Holy Land." Judith Levin Cantor was the event chair-
man, while Ruth Rattner is curator of the glass collection:
Some of the guests included JHS President Joan Braun,
Dede and Oscar Feldman, Joann and Dr. Charles
Clayman, Phyllis and Stephen Strome, Dr. Tor Shwayder,
Marj Levin, Judith Solomon, Ruth Rattner and Martin
and Cis Maisel Kellman.
CORVETTE 2000
Jack Cauley Chevrolet in West Bloomfield recently held
their traditional "Corvette Night" to celebrate Corvettes.
The event included food, drinks, classic Corvettes, racecars
and prototypes.
Many Corvette designers and engineers attended the
event. Herb Goodwin, Jim Friedman and Phil Ross were
among those in attendance.
