Steve Saraquse 16, of Southfield
recalls his trip to Israel. The son of
Susan Saraguse, he is an 11th-grad-
er at Birmingham Groves High
School..
"Two summers
ago, my family and
I made our pil-
grimage to Israel.
The most riveting
sight I experienced
was in climbing to
the top of Masada
and seeing where a
group of Jewish
Steve Saraquse
Zionists made
their last stand.
"It was amazing
to think that years ago, a colony of
Jews took their lives on the very
ground where I was standing to
avoid being put into slavery. In the
future, I will complete my Jewish
education."
